Dear nurse, Thank you very much for your cooperation to care of the patient whom I left for you and put my confidence in you to keep an eye on him. Please follow the suitable recommendations for him and his case according to doctors’ recommendations. If you wish to have any consultation with me after the operation, please contact me directly to discuss his condition according to the clinical situation and the laboratory results. Please send me a picture of the condition through the web camera if this is possible or send it per e/mail as this facilitates my judgment on the case. I will be happy to receive your comments and suggestions for the case to be able to extend a better care to the patient. Please have a careful look at the instructions related to the special care of the patient after the operation which is written in the section how to prepare yourself for the operation. In general, the care for a patient after urologic surgery does not differ much from that after any other surgery. The patient may carry a catheter weather a bladder one, coming through the abdominal wall, the ureter of the kidney. In some cases the operation may be a plastic or esthetic operation like penile lengthening or others. I would like to summarize the way to care for patient here. You have to take some decisions personally in view of the clinical history of the patient, the present symptoms, the general condition and the results of the clinical and laboratory tests after consulting the doctor of the hospital or consulting me directly. I will be happy to exchange the information with you extensively and to fruitfully work with you to care of the patient. General instructions: Please take care of sterilization and disinfection and wear surgical gloves while touching the patient. Keep in mind that the first few hours after the operation are critical ones because his circulation is still not stable and deserves special attention to avoid complications.
The ideal situation for the patient after an operation is that he is quite, reacts to command, breathes well in a quite and regular way, with warm and smooth abdomen and that his blood pressure, temperature and pulse normal. His catheter must be open and draining, the wound dressing dry, suffers no pain, his solution dribbles in a free way and his body is warm and covered. It is recommended that the room becomes not brightly lighted in this stage. |
