General information for care of wounds:
- Wash your hands and disinfect it and do not touch the wound except after wearing sterile gloves
- Cover the area surrounding the wound with sterile blankets to avoid its infection.
- Take a swab from the wound or the wound of the catheter if the wound smells bad or if there is oozing, changes or redness
- Spray the wound with a disinfectant after removal of the bandage.
- Use a sterile forceps to touch the wound
- Have the help of another nurse while dressing a wound to hand you whatever you want from the non sterile area to the sterile area (body of the patient).
General wounds of the body:
- Avoid any strike to the wound.
- Change the dressing daily.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
Dressing of circumcision wound:
- Remove the dressing and immerse the penis in Kamilomil decoction for 10 minutes.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
- Protect the wound with a new dressing.
- Repeat dressing twice daily.
Implantation of penile prosthesis:
- Keep a compression bandage around the penis for a week.
- nform the doctor if you observe haematoma to evacuate it.
- Watch out if there is any local or general sign of infection.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
- Put the penis in erection for 1-2 hours daily until complete healing.
- Notice that the glans penis is well supplied by blood.
Dressing of the penile curvature:
- Keep a compression bandage on the penis for a week.
- Observe if there is haematoma to treat it immediately.
- Watch out any local or general sign of infection.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
Penile lengthening:
- If the wound is shaped like Y at the lower abdomen, then keep the shaft of the penis down to maintain the blood supply of the shaft. Do not adhere the penis on the abdomen in this case.
- Leave the drain inside the wound to drain the fluids. It must be removed after asking the doctor (about 2 days).
- Look for any local or general sign of infection.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
- Put the penis under stretch using an adhesive tape to stick it to the upper medial part of the thigh.
- If you observe ischemia (shortness of blood supply to the wound), keep it dry and apply a special dressing with a metal surface (Metaline) and change it daily until complete healing.
- Please inform the doctor if you notice hardness or start of formation of fibrous tissue under the skin. Local cortisone infiltration twice weekly for 4-5 weeks is then indicated to weaken the scar.
Penile thickening:
- Please leave the drain in the wound (if present) to avoid any collection and do not remove it except after asking the doctor (after 2 days).
- Notice any local or general sign of infection.
- On dressing the wound remove the bandage with care and gentleness, disinfect it, cover the surrounding area, apply an antibiotic powder or ointment and cover it using a new sterile bandage.
- Keep a compression bandage around the penis and be sure that there is good blood supply to the glans penis.
- You can adhere the penis to the lower abdominal wall to enhance healing of the wound.
Liposuction:
- Advise the patient to wear a corset around the treated area for 8-12 weeks continuously.
- Recommend this corset for another 3 months only afternoon.
- Dress the wounds daily and empty the collecting bags stuck to the wounds.
- Notice any local or general sign of infection to treat it immediately
