The development of condyloma lesions is an agonizing sexual genital disease which is mostly easy to treat using medications but it can be also multiple and advanced to necessitate the conservative surgical treatment using laser. This is a disease caused by virus infection. The symptoms are the appearance of warts in the sulcus coronarius that is to say the groove behind the glans penis and on the foreskin. The lesions are small and whitish. They increase in number and size if not treated. The disease is a sexually transmitted disease and precautions for safe sex should take into consideration. The warts invade the urethra and concentrate themselves in the first part of the urethra, then spread to the rest of it.
Who qualifies for the treatment? Patients who have the disease at any stage in particular the very early one are advised to seek medical help. The first step is to treat them medically. There are many medications which are to prescribed by the urologist. If the warts are multiple, large or resistant, then they must be treated with the Nd-YAG Laser. The endoscopic exploration of the urethra is a part of the basic diagnosis to prove the presence or absence of the warts. How does the operation work? The patient lies in the lithotomy position on the back. The urethra and bladder should be inspected endoscopicaly. The warts on the foreskin and fossa navecularis are defined and coagulated by the laser. The skin is ripped by acetic acid and the area is illuminated by the laser to visualize the microscopic lesions which then coagulated as usual. The lesions in the urethra are coagulated by the laser through the endoscope. Healing: Healing takes 3-4 days. The urethra and skin are coagulated with a high energy. The area burns a little in particular during urination. It is sometimes advisable to install some gel with narcotics inside the urethra several times a day until the symptoms disappear.
