| Penis thickening |

The method of penis thickening has developed fast in the last few years starting with the use of Vaseline injection generally up to the injection of autologus (self) body fat. This was followed by the use of autologus skin-fat-graft obtained from the buttocks (which is satisfactory till now) , the insertion of a silicon prosthesis, injection of biogel around the penis, the injection of silicon, vaseline or hot wax under the skin of the penis or implantation of Permacol. These methods frequently brought undesirable results, including rejection (in the case of foreign materials) or re-absorption (in the case of fat) and particular deformation of the penis and its scaring. Fat injection leads to re-absorption or asymmetry and sometimes loss of function. A safer method is the implantation of Alloderm which is again an innert human skin. It does not provide the wished thickness on view of its very high price. Another safe methode for penis thickening is the insertion of a dermal fat graft from the buttock. Furthermore, scars are virtually invisible because of the taking of the skin right from the buttock or groin areas, or they may be totally avoided altogether if the expensive and thin AlloDerm grafts are used. One other method for penis thickening is to implant VYPRO II networks under the skin of the penis to ensure permanent results without loss of sensation. This method is based on the usage of a very well known material which has been implanted thousands of times in humans. It reduces the risk of rejection and infection and solves the problems experienced with the other methods mentioned above. Our patients enjoy an average increase of between 2 cm and 2,5 cm in circumference after penis thickening. This is about 30-50 % increase in girth of the penis. In my opinion the method is certainly much more reliable than that of fat injection and is the best treatment currently available. The implantation of VYPRO II is the only operation integrated e in a teaching for plastic and aesthetic surgery although the dermal fat graft and Alloderm implantation are also mentioned in scieftic periodicals. |
